Probuild Inspects Greenland Centre’s Facade Prototype in China

Inspection of the custom-designed glass façade will feature throughout the upper levels of the new Greenland Centre 68-storey tower in Sydney.

Last week saw members of the Greenland Centre site team visit Singyes Solar Technologies in Zhuhai, China for the visual mock up (VMU).

Inspection of the custom-designed glass façade will feature throughout the upper levels of the new Greenland Centre 68-storey tower in Sydney. The mock up featured a combination of the seven different panel types which will be used on the project.

The innovative design features a façade incorporating revolutionary glass-fronted balconies know as “Sydney Balconies”. These balconies will provide protection from wind and noise, whilst delivering uninterrupted panoramic views of Sydney Harbour, the city and surrounding parkland. This is a key feature of architect BVN’s award winning façade design.

The unique Sydney Balcony façade is made up of custom aluminium frames and large clear glazing, which is supported by bespoke aluminium fittings.

VMU inspections are being implemented into Probuild’s procurement and quality assurance processes for complex and detailed design elements.

These inspections provide the valuable opportunity for Probuild to work directly with the manufacturer and designers to identify and rectify any design and detailing issues early on, prior to the commencement of full production and arrival of materials on site.
